He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Navy Air Medal with two gold stars. After the war, he attended Yale University, graduating in 1948 with a degree in economics, and subsequently relocated to Texas with his wife Barbara and their eldest son George Walker. Bush enjoyed a long public service career. He was a Member of Congress, Ambassador to the United Nations, and the Director of Central Intelligence before serving as Vice President from 1981 – 1989 and President from 1989 – 1993. Cotton gloves are worn when removing coins from U.S. Mint rolls. These are uncirculated business strike coins. Some may contain marks, stains, tone with age, etc. due to the minting process. This is normal for these coins from the automated processes of minting, rolling, and packaging. If you are looking for high grade coins, consider purchasing slabbed graded coins from any various coin grading company.
